Whether you are a parent of a child with Selective Mutism, a teacher with an SM student, or a medical professional working with an SM patient, this podcast will give you an inside look at what Selective Mutism is and how a child can be supported to help them overcome this anxiety disorder. As a mom of a child with SM, this podcast will be a way for me to help others on the same journey. I will share the ups and downs of our journey and hopefully help you avoid some detours along yours. In this episode, you will learn about what Selective Mutism (SM) is and the typical characteristics of someone that has SM. Selective Mutism isn't very well known which made it difficult to put a name to what our daughter was going through. I'll share with you what we were seeing in our daughter when she was around her immediate family, her extended family, and how she was in her early years of school. Plus, I will share with you how we came about finding out how our daughter had Selective Mutism.
